How it began ...

Not long ago I was going through some old boxes in the basement when I came across some postcards that for whatever reason had never been used. They were too interesting to just throw away, but, finding myself shockingly friendless, I didn’t have anyone in particular to send them to. So I decided to do what any normal deranged person would do: send them to complete strangers.

Hey, I reasoned, everybody could use a little fun and mystery in their lives. So I looked up some names and addresses at random, jotted some notes on the postcards as if to old friends, and off they went. It was so disturbingly fun that I decided to create some “generic” postcards and send them out to still others. Soon the list of recipients grew to not just fellow citizens, but to celebrities, employers, professors, politicians, and other unsuspecting victims.

This was my secret delight for months. Until my wife found out.

Upon so doing, her reaction was that she was “creeped out” and that I should “get therapy” and that she “feared for our children,” but I knew that was just her special way of encouraging me to publish them. So here they are for public consumption. May you enjoy them as much as she did.

Oh, one other thing. Some of the names addresses have been hidden to protect these innocent strangers from further unsolicited correspondence. But happily, celebrities, politicians, and corporate heads by tradition have never had their privacy respected, so their postcards are reproduced here untouched.

This is cool, and new.  Morley, Chico, and I were delighted.
